UCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Organising Committee of the 2018 UCI Road World Championships in Innsbruck-Tirol has announced the routes for all of its events, which take place between the 22nd and the 30th of September next year.

The 12 races, of which six are elite category, will finish in the region's capital city of Innsbruck after starting in one of four different locations.

The both Team Time Trials share the first 40 kilometers but the men's version then turns into a mountain range for its final 22 kilometers, with a total of 62.1 kilometers. The women's edition goes straight to the finish for a total length of 53.8 kilometers.

The Women's time trial, as well as those of the U23 and Junior categories, start in the Hall-Wattens region and include three different, relatively short climbs. The total length of the route is 28 kilometers.

The Men's Elite time trial differs in several ways. The 54.2km route includes a short climb at the beginning and a larger climb after the half way point, which just like this year will significantly affect the chances of time trial specialists.

The Women's road race begins in the town of Kufstein and finishes in Innsbruck 162.3 kilometers later. The course consists of 90.6km stretch followed by three short laps of 23.9 kilometers each, with a total elevation gain of 2413 meters.

The Men's Elite road race has its start and finish in the same location but will complete the lap six times rather than three, and additionally face a long lap of 31 kilometers. The total elevation gain is 4670 meters with no less than nine ascents awaiting those competing for the Rainbow Jersey.
