LottoNL-Jumbo welcomes Danny van Poppel

LottoNL-Jumbo has confirmed the signing of sprinter Danny van Poppel. The Dutchman makes a move to the team from Sky, for the next two years.

The rumours of the move were officially confirmed by the Dutch team on Thursday. The rider chose a contract with LottoNL-Jumbo over an extension with the British squad at which he has been for the last two years.

"It's fantastic to join Team LottoNL-Jumbo, said the rider. "It’s great to see how the team is developing sprinting, as sprinting is my main goal. However, I’m looking very much forward to the classics too. I know that they suit me, although I wasn’t really able to show that due to some bad luck over the last years."

LottoNL-Jumbo's Sportive director Merijn Zeeman commented that the rider will share the sprint chances with Dylan Groenewegen and will continue to develop his career. "We are proud that Van Poppel has chosen our team above others and that we now have two world-class sprinters within our team. We will make Danny even faster and make him a better cyclist."
