Movistar has confirmed the signing of Rafael Valls. The Spaniard is making a move to the team from Lotto Soudal.

The rider is the fifth signing of Movistar for the 2018 season and he is coming back to a team of his country after six years in squads like Vacansoleil, Lampre and Lotto Soudal.

Despite his multiple injuries, the Spaniard has appeared in two editions of the Giro d'Italia, two of the Vuelta a España, and four of the Tour de France, where he was very close to winning a stage in 2010.

The palmares of the rider includes a stage victory in the 2010 Tour de San Luis and a win at the Queen stage and overall classification of the 2015 Tour of Oman, beating Tejay van Garderen (BMC) and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar).

The last two seasons for Valls have been marred by injuries, including a hip fracture that kept him out of the last Vuelta a España, after having a good start of the season in which he finished in the overall top ten at the Tour Down Under and the Criterium du Dauphine.
