Aqua Blue Sport will add pink touches to its kit in the month of October for breast cancer awareness.

The Irish team has already been racing with a pink ribbon on its jersey as a tribute to those who have won the fight against the disease. One of the directors of the team, Lisa Delaney, who is also the wife of Aqua Blue Sports owner Rick Delaney, is herself a cancer survivor.

"This cause is very close to my family’s heart. Every family has been touched by cancer – we are no different," said Rick Delaney. "Lisa has won her battle against breast cancer but other people, from all corners of the world, have not been so lucky.

"We hope that, through our simple gesture, and with the help of our sponsors, that we can again bring the fight against breast cancer into the public consciousness. If this helps one person get an early diagnosis then that is a success."

The riders will be wearing a special design pink helmet by Catlike, as well as pink bar tape by fi’zi:k and pink socks by Rapha. The website of the team will also turn pink for this initiative and offers the possibility to make donations for awareness of breast cancer.
