Kristian Sbaragli has signed with Israel Cycling Academy. With this move, the Italian puts an end to five seasons at Dimension Data.

Weeks prior this announcement, rumours pointed at a possible transfer to Astana or the Israel ProContinental team. The Italian chose to move to the team to which riders like Ben Hermans, Sondre Holst Enger, Edwin Avila and Ruben Plaza are also moving for the 2018 season.

Sbaragli turned professional with Dimension-Data where he got a stage victory at the 2015 Vuelta a España and numerous top-10 spots in races like RideLondon, Tre Valli Varesine and the GP Industria & Commercio di Prato.

The rider said farewell to the African team just after the 2017 edition of the Tre Valli Varesine. "Today was my last race of the year but more importantly it was my last race with the team," he said. "I tried to do my best and I was feeling quite good but the race was really hard and the climbers decided the final.

"I would like to say thank you to the team and to all the people I worked with in these nice 5 years. We had many good days together and even if I am changing teams in the future, I will always take the project that I have supported for the last 5 years, Qhubeka, with me. This team gave me the chance to turn pro and for this reason I will never forget what they have done for me. It was time for me to change teams now and that is just part of our sport."

After being a strong support for riders like Mark Cavendish, the rider will become one of the main sprinters in the Israeli formation.
