BMC Racing Team terminates Samuel Sanchez' contract

Following the confirmation of Samuel Sanchez' positive anti-doping test, BMC Racing team has terminated the contract of the Spaniard.

Last August, the Union Cycliste Internationale informed about a potential anti-doping violation of Sanchez for the presence of GHRP-2 in the metabolism of the rider in an out-of-competition control.

The rider was provisionally suspended by the team while awaiting the analysis of the B-Sample. On Wednesday, the rider's lawyers confirmed to Spanish newspaper Marca that the second test turned out positive as well, but that he will continue to defend his innocence.

"In accordance with BMC Racing Team's zero-tolerance policy with respect to doping violations and UCI regulations, Sánchez was immediately suspended from BMC Racing Team," said the team in a press statement.

"At the request of Sánchez, his B sample was analysed at the WADA accredited laboratory in Lausanne, Switzerland. The analysis of Sánchez' B sample confirmed the presence of GHRP-2 and its metabolite, as found in his A sample. At that time, Sánchez' contract with the team was terminated with immediate effect."
