Diego Ulissi is the new leader of the Tour of Turkey after beating Jesper Hansen and Daniel Felipe Martinez for victory in the queen stage.
The fourth stage of the Turkish race allowed the sprinters to take a rest as it was now up to those with climbing legs to make a difference. The route took the peloton from Marmaris to Selcuk and had a total length of 204.1 kilometers.
A group of six riders spent most of the day ahead of the pack and was later reduced to three, with Feritcan Samli, Davide Ballerini and Ludovic Robeet leaving their companions behind to remain in the lead a little while longer.
The trio was caught at 40 kilometers from the finish however, after which those aiming for the classification began to have their teams control things to avoid unexpected attacks.
UAE Team Emirates did well to control the pace and allowed its leader Ulissi to stay at the front throughout the climb. The Italian reached the final stretch with only three others and had the better legs in the last meters to take the win.
Astana's Jesper Hansen finished at five seconds and Daniel Felipe Martinez of Wilier Triestina - Selle Italia crossed the line another four seconds later.
In the general classification, Ulissi jumps into first place with an advantage of 12 seconds over Hansen.
