Trek-Segafredo's Edward Theuns has won the last stage of the Tour of Turkey. The overall victory went to Diego Ulissi of UAE Team Emirates.
The sixth and final stage of the WorldTour event began and finished in Istanbul, with the riders having to complete a total of 143.7 kilometers.
The breakaway of the day was caught well on time for the peloton to set up the sprint. Sam Bennett, who had already won four stages, was once again the big favorite but the Irishman of Bora-hansgrohe crashed in the finale and such played no role in the actual sprint.
Theuns had already been beaten by Bennett in some of the previous stages and the Belgian did well to take advantage of his sudden role as stage favorite, to cross the line ahead of Bora's Matteo Pelucchi and Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia's Francesco Gavazzi.
Ulissi, who won the only mountain stage of the race, confirmed his overall victory with a 12-second advantage over Astana's Jesper Hansen. Third place went to Fausto Masnada of Androni.
