The iconic Mount Fuji may form the scene of the 2020 Olympic Road Race in Japan, according to the Japan Times.

The report claims to have received detailed information about the course of the Tokyo Olympics from a source, which says that the race is set to take place in the Yamanashi Prefecture.

The course will reportedly be 270 kilometers long and passes Lake Yamanaka and the foot of Mount Fuji, before finishing at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka.

"For the athletes, it will be tough, with a lot of difference in elevation, but it is a wonderful course with Mount Fuji in the background," the source told the Japan Times.

The article adds that the women's race is expected to have the same starting and finishing locations, but will be about half the length at 140 kilometers.
