French continental team Armee de Terre will no longer exist for the 2018 season, newspaper Le Parisien reported on Friday.

Le Parisien already reported on the likely disappearance of Armee de Terre on Tuesday, and now claims that the decision to pull the plug has been confirmed.

"This Friday morning, the staff of the team summoned its riders at the barracks of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. [...] According to our information, the decision of the team was confirmed. A moment loaded with emotion," the newspaper wrote.

The rider salaries are reportedly guaranteed, but those that want to continue their careers at the higher level will have to find other teams, the report adds.

The Armee de Terre cycling team was founded in 2011 and largely funded by the French Army. All cyclists are professional soldiers.

The team made the move to the UCI Continental level in 2015.
