Tony Martin has confirmed that he will lead Katusha-Alpecin at Paris-Roubaix, a race that will also be his season's main goal.

With the departure of Alexander Kristoff, the German will be the captain of the team at the monument. "For me, my race schedule will be more open next season but personally, I'm looking forward to Paris-Roubaix and to put in a good performance in the spring," said the rider to British magazine 'Cyclist'.

Martin will be leading the spring classics before he moves on to helping new teammate Marcel Kittel in the sprint train for stage victories in longer races.

The German rode Paris-Roubaix for the first time in 2016, an edition in which he made a surprise attack that allowed teammate Tom Boonen to take the second position.
