Angel Vicioso to retire in a race with Contador, Olano and Rodriguez

Former riders like Alberto Contador, Abraham Olano and Joaquim Rodriguez will take part in the farewell race of Katusha-Alpecin's Angel Vicioso.

Next Saturday, December 2nd, the Spaniard will put an end to his cycling career during a criterium in his honour in the city of Calatayud, Spain, where he started in the sport.

"I'm very excited about saying goodbye in my region, where I started," said the rider during the presentation of the race at which the mayor of Calatayud Jose Manuel Aranda and the president of the Cycling Club Bilbilitano Carlos Sanjuan also made an appearance.

Former and current riders like Contador, Olano, Rodriguez, Joseba Beloki and Luis Leon Sanchez, as well as other sportsmen like MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro, will take part in the race.

With this race, Vicioso puts an end to an 18-year-long career in which he took stage victories in races like the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de Suisse, the Volta a Catalunya and the Tour of the Basque Country.
