German veteran Andre Greipel hopes to improve from his 2017 season, and singles out Paris-Roubaix as a principal target for the coming campaign.

The Lotto-Soudal rider aims to use 2018 to prove to himself and the world that he still has what it takes to do well in big races, as he explained in an interview with Sporza.

"2017 wasn't my best season, for sure, but not my worst either," he said. "I want to prove myself in 2018 and show that I'm still strong enough. Of course I am looking at the sprints, but also at the classics."

Greipel sees possibilities on the cobbles around Roubaix, both in the 'Hell of the North' and in the Tour de France stage that will include a cobbled section.

"I don't want to speak of the victory, but I would like to get another good result at Paris-Roubaix," he said, referring to his seventh place in 2017 at just 12 seconds from winner Greg Van Avermaet.

"I am not focused on the Tour de France stage yet, but it will certainly be a very interesting stage," he added.

The 35-year-old is set to start his eighth season at the Belgian formation.
