AG2R La Mondiale's Romain Bardet has stated that episodes like Chris Froome's adverse analytical finding can affect the credibility of the sport.
The Frenchman, who has been on the podium of the Tour de France in its last two editions, has said that the adverse result of Froome at the last edition of the Vuelta a España can affect the way people see cycling. "It's never good news and it's not good news for the world of cycling," he said to French newspaper L'Equipe.
"We never rejoice in a case like this. Everyone is more or less affected, and the credibility of the sport first."
But the rider doesn't think that it's all bad news regarding this case because it shows that the anti-doping battle is working. "I see the progress that has been made for years in the fight against doping," he explained. "The UCI and the World Anti-doping Agency have all the skills to open an objective inquiry and clarify the facts for it to come out of ambiguity.
"I hope this case will be settled as soon as possible and that if there will be any sanctions, they will be done as soon as possible so that 2018 starts on good bases and the season can begin without any suspicions."
