Dutch cyclist Antwan Tolhoek takes full responsibility for his actions at LottoNL-Jumbo's training camp in Spain, and hopes to win back the confidence he has lost.

Tolhoek was one of three cyclists sanctioned by the team after using sleep medicines without permission. He and Pascal Eenkhoorn were suspended for two months and Spaniard Juan Jose Lobato was sacked.

The 23-year-old spoke to the website of Dutch broadcaster Omroep Zeeland, requesting for the phone interview not to be recorded by the journalist (Stefan Nijpjes), in order to avoid saying the wrong things on record.

The Dutchman said that he did not know why he did it and that he allowed himself to get carried away. Asked whether he was influenced by Lobato, he replied with a simple "yes".

Tolhoek also confirmed that he was in possession of sleep medication Stilnoct, adding that he does not normally need sleep medication and tends to sleep very well. He refused to say why had the medication in possession at this particular moment. "I would rather not answer that question," he replied.

The rider fully accepts the punishment. "I made a mistake and I have to suffer the consequences. With the team, I have to work to restore the confidence.

"I hope that I can soon win back the confidence of the people."
