Mathieu van der Poel has extended his contract with Beobank-Corendon until 2020. As announced, the Dutch rider will focus on cyclocross and mountain bike for two more years.

Van der Poel will delay his career in road cycling until the end of 2020 as he himself had announced earlier in the year. The rider will continue in the cyclocross team, which will be known as Corendon-Circus from next season, for two more years and will also focus on mountain biking.

The Dutchman has the intention of starting at the mountain bike competitions at the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 and after that, he will focus solely on road cycling.

"My focus is on the other two disciplines until the end of 2020," he said to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. "I will choose the road after 2020 when I will be only 25. That is a nice age to focus on my dreams on the road."
