Trek-Segafredo's Giacomo Nizzolo has won the last stage at the Vuelta a San Juan. Gonzalo Najar maintained his overall lead to take the final victory of the race.

The last stage of the Argentinean race was 141.3 kilometres long and began with an escape of seven riders. Omar Mendoza (Medellin), Alexander Cataford (UnitedHealthCare), Miguel Rubiano (Coldeportes Zenu Sello Rojo), Emiliano Contreras (Asociacion Civil Mardan), Sergio Aguirre (Municipalidad de Rawson), Gonzalo Miranda (Municipalidad de Pocito) and Guiseppe Fonzi (Willier Triestina-Selle Italia) got an advantage of almost two minutes over the peloton.

With 50 kilometres to go this group was caught and a new one was created almost immediately. Alvaro Cuadros (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Simone Velasco (Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia) and Rodrigo Nascimiento (Brasil) created a gap of a minute with the pack.

The escapees were reeled back in at 10 kilometres from the line by a peloton pulled by Lotto-Soudal, Trek-Segafredo and Quick-Step Floors, who continued working until the end. Nizzolo showed to have the better legs in the last meters and took the victory just ahead of Max Richeze and Alvaro Hodeg (Quick-Step Floors).

Local rider Gonzalo Najar (Empleados Publicos de San Juan) arrived with the peloton and kept the lead of the General Classification. Oscar Sevilla (Medellin) and Rodolfo Torres (Androni Giocattoli) occupied the second and third spots on the final podium.
