Laurens De Plus will have to postpone the start of his season. The Quick-Step Floors rider has to recover from the injuries caused by a training crash.

On the 26th of January, De Plus, Petr Vakoc and Bob Jungels were on a training ride in South Africa when a truck crashed against them. The Belgian was sent to the ground along with Vakoc, who suffered the most serious consequences with several broken vertebrae that required surgery.

De Plus had milder injuries but enough to stop him from starting the season. After further tests at the Mediclinic hospital in Nelspruit, the rider was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture to the acetabulum on the right side of his pelvis and a microfracture to his sacrum.

The rider will go back to Belgium where he will undergo conservative therapy. De Plus will be off the bike for three weeks before going back to training.
