Cofidis signs Daniel Teklehaimanot

Eritrean Daniel Teklehaimanot has signed a contract with Team Cofidis. The rider will start his season at the upcoming Dubai Tour.

The 29-year-old, who has been the best climber at the Criterium du Dauphine and wore the Polka Dot jersey at the 2015 Tour de France, was informed last October that his contract with Dimension Data was not going to be renewed.

After looking for teams and offers to continue his career as a professional cyclist, Teklehaimanot and Cofidis have reached an agreement for a one year contract. "I'm so happy to have been able to convince a manager like Cedric Vasseur," said the rider from his Italian home to French newspaper L'Equipe.

"I've been training like I'm going to race the next day. I'm motivated for this new adventure in a strong team that has great ambitions."

The rider will complete the team that will go to the Dubai Tour, which will take place from the 6th to the 10th of February, as the replacement of the ill Geoffrey Soupe.
