Quick-Step Floors' Elia Viviani has taken the victory at the last stage of the Dubai Tour. The Italian also tops the General Classification and takes his first race victory with the Belgian team.

The last stage of the Dubai race was also the last showcase for the sprinters, who were also battling for the overall victory. The 132-kilometer route for the day had an early breakaway of four riders, which got almost four minutes of advantage on the peloton.

Quentin Valognes (Novo Nordisk), Xiao Long Sun (Mitchelton-BikeExchange), Nasser Almemari (United Arab Emirates) and Daniel Pearson (Aqua Blue Sport) rode ahead of the pack for most of the stage. With 25 kilometers to go, Pearson went solo and was captured by the peloton just before the 10-kilometer mark just as Jacob Hennessey and Robert Stannard (Mitchelton-Scott) made their move to get away.

The duo rode together ahead of the pack, but couldn't fight against the speed imposed by the teams with sprinters and were caught at three kilometers from the finish. Katusha-Alpecin, Dimension Data, Trek-Segafredo and Bahrain-Merida set the pace for the last part of the race.

The final sprint was very chaotic after the group was split by a crash of Cofidis' Nacer Bouhanni in the last curve and Elia Viviani showed once again to be the strongest in the final meters. Marco Haller (Katusha-Alpecin) and Adam Blythe (Aqua Blue Sport) were second and third at the stage.

Dimension Data's Mark Cavendish, LottoNL-Jumbo's Dylan Groenewegen and Bahrain-Merida's Sonny Colbrelli were held back by the crash and couldn't take part in the sprint.

Thanks to the victory at the final stage, Viviani also takes the overall win at the race.
