Alexis Gougeard starts in Vuelta a Andalucia looking at Spring Classics

SUBSCRIBE TO RSS FEEDSAG2R La Mondiale is ready to go to the Vuelta a Andalucia/Ruta del Sol with a versatile roster that includes Alexis Gougeard, Silvan Dillier and Oliver Naesen.
The Spanish race will be the second event of the season for Gougeard, who will have the company of the Swiss and Belgian champions Dillier and Naesen. "I started my racing season at the Etoile de Bessèges. Although my form was not quite optimal, I was happy to participate in Tony Gallopin’s success and test myself in the time trial (7th)," said the rider.
"Five days of racing right off the bat helps get you into the rhythm of the competition at the beginning of the season! Now I will be going to the Ruta Del Sol for the first time."
The rider welcomes the challenge of the race and thinks it will help his form ahead of the upcoming races. "With the altitude and 200km from the first day, the event promises to be difficult," Gougeard commented.
"But I am hopeful that it will be an aggressive race where the breakaways can hope for some success. I want to have fun before turning my attention to the first weekend of the Belgian classics."
