Edvald Boasson Hagen and Louis Meintjes start season at Volta ao Algarve

Dimension Data riders Edvald Boasson Hagen and Louis Meintjes are set to start their 2018 season at the upcoming Volta ao Algarve.

The Portuguese 2.HC race, which starts on the 14th of February and consists of five stages, will offer possibilities for different types of riders with a time trial, two flat stages and two stages with climbs.

"We are looking forward to racing at Volta ao Algarve once again," said Sport Director Bingen Fernandez. "Usually Portugal has pleasant weather in comparison to the rest of Europe at this time of the year.

"The course is quite diverse this year, for sure it will be an interesting race. We have Edvald and Louis here to start their season, it will be good to see how they are feeling as they get into the rhythm of racing once again.

"Realistically, we need to look at each stage separately and see what our best option is for that day. To win a stage is always a goal for us at any race."

Boasson Hagen has history at the Portuguese race, having won a stage at its 2012 edition. He also won the points classification that year and wore the leader's jersey for one day.
