Magnus Cort Nielsen (Astana) has taken the victory at the fourth stage of the Tour of Oman. The Dane crossed the finish line ahead of Giovanni Visconti and Alberto Bettiol.

The stage was 117.5 kilometres long over a rolling route between Yiti (Al Sifah) and the Ministry of Tourism. The escape of the day once again included Cofidis' Loic Chetout and he had the company of riders like Jacques Janse Van Rensburg (Dimension Data) and Remi Cavagna (Quick-Step Floors).

As the climbs passed, this front group got smaller and the last of its men was caught at 18 kilometres from the line. The last climb of Al Jabaal Street left a select group of 20 riders, who fought for the victory.

Cort Nielsen had the better legs at the end of the day and claimed the victory leaving Giovanni Visconti (Bahrain-Merida) and Alberto Bettiol (BMC) in second and third place. BMC's Greg Van Avermaet was fourth and this was enough for him to keep leading the General Classification.
