Romain Bardet of AG2R La Mondiale has won the Classic de l'Ardeche. The Frenchman beat Maximilian Schachmann and Lilian Calmejane for the victory.

The race was 200 kilometers long, starting and finishing in the town of Guilherand-Granges. The route consisted of three laps all featuring several climbs, followed by a final stretch to the finish with another two climbs to overcome.

Bardet, third in the 2017 Tour de France, attacked with about 20 kilometers to go and stayed ahead of the group of favorites to take his first win of the year.

Schachmann, of Quick-Step Floors, won the battle for second place ahead of Direct Energie's Calmejane.
