Belgian Greg Van Avermaet has yet to hear from BMC Racing Team about a possible contract extension.

The Olympic Champion said this in an interview with Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, expressing his concern about the current situation.

"Until now I haven't really focused on next season as I was concentrated on racing," he said. "From BMC I haven't received anything yet. It's very quiet from their side, unfortunately.

"The first thing to do on Monday will be to call my manager," he said jokingly. "Then things should speed up. By now I should know what to prepare for.

Van Avermaet, now 32, is currently in his eighth season at BMC Racing Team. During that time, he took seven major victories in one-day races including the 2017 edition of Paris-Roubaix. He also won stages in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, in addition to winning the overall classification of races like Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of Belgium.
