The Italian ProContinental team Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia has finished its roster for the 2018 Giro d’Italia.

Revelation of the recent Tour of the Alps Ivan Ramiro Sosa is not part of the team. The Colombian climbing talent is deemed too young by team manager Gianni Savio, who takes a "complete and competitive team."

Instead of Sosa, fellow Colombian Rodolfo Andres Torres will be Androni’s main man in the mountains. Next to Torres the team aims at a good result for Fausto Masnada and Mattia Cattaneo in the mountains. For Cattaneo the Giro will be his return to racing after a crash in the Settimana Ciclista Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.

"Manuel Belleti is our sprinter," says Savio on the team’s website, "he will be supported by Francesco Gavazzi." Road captain of the team is to be the experienced Marco Frapporti, while "interesting youngsters" Davide Ballerini and Andrea Vendrame can try to impress.

The Italian team makes its comeback in the Giro after a two-year absence. It is said that Savio has problems with the RCS, the organisers of the Giro. However, since Androni won the Coppa Italia last year they well earned their wildcard for this year's Giro. To make the most of this invitation, the team promises to entertain the public with enthusiasm to honour the Giro.

Complete roster of Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia for the Giro d'Italia (4th to 27th of May):

Davide Ballerini (ITA)
Manuel Belletti (ITA)
Mattia Cattaneo (ITA)
Marco Frapporti (ITA)
Francesco Gavazzi (ITA)
Fausto Masnada (ITA)
Rodolfo Andres Torres (COL)
Andrea Vendrame (ITA)
