Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) finished second in the first stage of the Tour of Romandie, on a day the Italian thought he deserved a better result.

The rider and the team worked well on the second day of racing in Switzerland, but the finish did not have the result he was expecting. "A second place in a World Tour race is always welcome but this time there is a bit of disappointment," he explained. "I had good legs and I missed very little to take the victory.

"As the race developed it could have ended better. At the sprint, I started from afar but the stage winner, the Spaniard Omar Fraile, anticipated me. We rode well and deserved more. Already tomorrow I will have another opportunity and I hope to do better."

For Sports Director Harald Morscher, the hard work of the team today had an undeserved result. "The Team has proven to be strong and I regret not having finalized all the work with a victory," he commented. "Sonny has proven to have the usual grit and tomorrow we will try again."
