Bora-Hansgrohe has selected its eight riders that are to participate in the 2018 Giro d’Italia. With Davide Formolo the German WorldTour team aims at a place in the top-10, while Sam Bennett will go for stage wins in the sprints.

The 25-year-old Italian has experience aiming at a GC in a Grand Tour, having finished 9th in the 2016 Vuelta and 10th in last year’s Giro. Recently he showed his good form with a 7th place in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Earlier this season he also finished 7th in the Tirreno-Adriatico, while finishing 6th in the Abu Dhabi Tour.

Bennett hopes to be successful in the sprint stages. The 27-year old Irishman has not taken a win yet this season, and will aim at his maiden Grand Tour victory. Last year he finished second in stage 13 to Tortona, while finishing 3rd on three occasions.

The line-up is completed by Italian Cesare Benedetti, Austrians Felix Großschartner and Patrick Konrad and Germans Christoph Pfingsten, Andreas Schillinger and Rüdiger Selig.

Lukas Pöstlberger is not part of the roster this year, despite his surprising success in the first stage of the Giro last year. He took the first maglia rosa with a late attack surprising the sprinters in Olbia. This year he has been hopelessly searching for his winning form after a sickness. On Facebook he wrote that it is a "real disappointment not to be part of this beautiful race."

Complete roster of Bora-Hansgrohe for the Giro d'Italia (4th to 27th of May):

Cesare Benedetti (ITA)
Sam Bennett (IRL)
Davide Formolo (ITA)
Felix Großschartner (AUT)
Patrick Konrad (AUT)
Christoph Pfingsten (GER)
Andreas Schillinger (GER)
Rüdiger Selig (GER)
