Oliver Naesen is set to lead AG2R La Mondiale in Eschborn-Frankfurt. Frenchman Tony Gallopin will return to racing to support the captain.
Gallopin has struggled with health problems in the first part of the season. "I experienced difficulties starting in Paris-Nice," he explained. "I suffered because of bronchitis and the bad weather, and I came out of the race tired.
"I’ll pass over the subject of the classics. After Paris-Roubaix, I just rested. I had some medical exams, and then I started up my training again. I feel that I have recovered well."
The rider will now continue his preparations for the French grand tour. "I am now off to a good start, building towards the Critérium du Dauphiné, the French Championships and the Tour de France," Gallopin commented.
"I cannot wait to be a part of a team that will have big ambitions. Frankfurt will be the race I use to return to racing, and I’ll probably need to regain my rhythm. Then I will follow that up with the Tour de l’Ain, the GP de Plumelec and the Boucles de l'Aulne."
