Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe) has won the fifth and last stage of the Tour de Romandie. LottoNL-Jumbo's Primoz Roglic took the overall victory of the race.

The last stage of the Swiss race was 181.8 kilometres long between Mont-sur-Rolle and Geneve, with a rolling route that included three climbs of the third category. The escapees of the day went away in the first ten kilometres and got an advantage of more than three minutes over the peloton.

The front group included riders like Carlos Verona (Mitchelton-Scott), Winner Anacona (Movistar) and Alexis Gougeard (AG2R La Mondiale). Behind them, the peloton was pulled by riders of Bora-hansgrohe and Bahrain-Merida while LottoNL-Jumbo devoted itself to protect race leader Primoz Roglic.

At around 10 kilometres to go, the peloton caught the escapees and got ready for a final sprint without main candidates like Fernando Gaviria, Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors) and Michael Matthews (Sunweb), who retired in earlier stages of the race.

Teams like Bahrain-Merida and Bora-hansgrohe were in charge of setting the high pace for the final sprint, which was won by Pascal Ackermann (Bora). Michael Morkov (Quick-Step Floors) and Roberto Ferrari (UAE Team Emirates) were second and third on the stage.

Roglic arrived safely with the peloton and took the final victory of the race. Egan Bernal (Sky) and last year's champion Richie Porte (BMC), stepped on the second and third place of the podium.
