David de la Cruz (Sky) is likely going to be the leader of Sky at the Vuelta a España. The Spaniard is supporting Chris Froome at the Giro d'Italia and from him he is learning how to assume the leadership of the team.

De la Cruz is playing a supporting role for Froome at the Italian grand tour and he knows what is expected of him at the moment. "We have the best in the world and my work is to attend to his needs," he said in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca. "My turn will come and if everything continues as expected it will happen in the Vuelta a España."

Though the rider claims that Froome is not affected at all by the adverse Salbutamol test result, he doesn't understand the attacks aimed at the team. "I came here from another very good team, but everything here is at another level," he explains.

"It is not only about money, but you can see that they really love cycling. They take care of the cyclist, they are thinking all day long about how to improve and how to make us devote ourselves to our work in the nicest way possible."
