Nacer Bouhanni hasn't had the start of the season that Cofidis expected from him, which could leave him off the roster for the upcoming Tour de France.

The relationship between Bouhanni and the team seems to be at an all-time low due to the lack of good results in the season so far. The best position the rider has had in 2018 is a second place at the third stage of the Dubai Tour in February.

French newspaper L'Equipe talked to Cofidis' Sports Director Alain Deloeuil, who showed the concerns of the team. "If Bouhanni doesn't perform well at the first stage of (4 Jours de) Dunkerque we won't build the entire team around him anymore," he explained. "I hope he's not here enjoying the views.

"If he doesn't win this week, I can't see how he can be in the selection for the Tour de France."

The newspaper also reports that the French rider had a big fight with Sports Director Roberto Damiani in the team bus after Eschborn-Frankfurt. A source of the French journal commented that Bouhanni's behaviour was "odious and abysmal."

In April, Cofidis manager Cedric Vasseur already showed concerns about the rider's shape and his behaviour. "According to the physical tests he took, Bouhanni isn't in the top 10 of Cofidis. He must earn his place for the Tour de France. We don't trust him anymore," he commented.
