Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) expects to be 100 percent recovered in time for the Tour de France from the broken vertebra he sustained during Paris-Roubaix.

The Italian rider has had to deal with two injuries in the 2018 season: the first was a fractured rib during training in the winter, which delayed his debut with the team until February, and the fractured vertebra at Paris-Roubaix.

The recovery is going well for Trentin and he already looks for what is coming. "I'll decide my schedule at the end of this week when I get the confirmation if I already can start training on the bike," said the Italian to GazzettaTV.

"My big goal is to make my return at the Tour de France and based on my recovery we will set the objectives of what is to come."

The rider hasn't missed any big races that he was set to appear in. "The Giro d'Italia was not in my year's programs regardless of the injury," Trentin explained. "My wife and I had our second baby just the week before the start of the Giro, though the due date was set for the week of the Grand Departure.

"So I had already decided together with the team to skip it. Now we will see if the schedule will change after the injury or if I will be able to be at the start of the Tour de France as expected."
