Nacer Bouhanni has won the third stage of the 4 Jours de Dunkerque, replying as such to the pressure put on him by the management of his team Cofidis.

Ahead of the opening stage earlier this week, it was said that Bouhanni could forget about the Tour de France if he didn't pick up any stage wins in this race. Initially, things weren't looking good for the Frenchman as he failed to compete for the top spots in the first two stages.

But in Ecques, at the end of a 171.5km long stage starting in Fort Mahon Plage, Bouhanni finally did strike by beating Belgian Timothy Dupont of Wanty-Groupe Gobert for the victory. The breakaway of the day had been caught a few kilometers earlier.

Wouter Wippert of Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij completed the top three.

In the general classification, Dupont jumps to the top of the standings with the exact same time as Vital Concept rider Bryan Coquard, who as such loses his leader's jersey.
