With August coming up quickly, the first transfer rumours are beginning to appear.

Rumours from Spain are saying that Mikel Landa is unhappy with his move to Movistar and that he is exploring his options, according to TuttobiciWeb.

At Movistar Landa has to share the leadership with Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde. The tridente is supposed to ride the tour, together with the talented Marc Soler. Landa himself would have liked to go for the Maglia Rosa in the Giro this year, but Movistar did not let him.

The Basque rider does not have to complain about a lack of interest though, as several WorldTour teams have shown an interest in Landa, whose contract at Movistar ends at the end of the 2019 season. Among these is Astana, where his former team manager Alexandre Vinokourov would love to see him back in the turquoise jersey.

The Movistar rider had his breakthrough during his spell at Astana in 2014 and 2015. In his last year at Astana he finished third in the Giro d'Italia, which earned him a transfer to Team Sky. After two years at the British team he moved to Movistar in the hope of getting more opportunities to ride for himself.
