Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) finished the 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia wearing the Pink Jersey and looking forward to the difficult day that is coming.

Yates got the quiet stage he was expecting in anticipation of the big mountain stages that are coming. "It was actually quite nice to 'prepare' for tomorrow, but in the final, it was still difficult," said the rider to Italian broadcaster RAI at the finish line.

"It's never easy in a sprint, especially for a guy quite small like me, I don't really have the big power. But now I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

The 14th stage of the Italian grand race will feature the renowned Zoncolan and it will be an important day for the contenders for the title. "It will be very difficult," explained Yates.

"I don't know the climb but, of course, it is very iconic. If I have the legs I will try because as I've been saying from the beginning, I need the time, but I don't expect really big gaps."
