Andre Greipel of Lotto Soudal has won his second stage in a row at the Baloise Belgium Tour and remains at the top of the general classification.

The second of five stages was 162.1 kilometers long and the course between Lochristi and Knokke-Heist, at the North Sea coast, was almost entirely flat.

Antoine Warnier, Quinten Hermans, Jimmy Janssens, Johan Jacobs and Rob Ruijgh formed the breakaway of the day but the gap was always kept small as the sprinters' teams didn't want to risk missing out on a bunch finish.

As the leaders were caught, splits happened in the peloton as result of the wind but everything was back together again soon after as the riders began to prepare for a final mass sprint.

Greipel, who had already won the opening stage and as such wore the leader's jersey, once again proved to be the best. The German crossed the line ahead of Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij rider Wouter Wippert and Verandas Willems-Crelan's Tim Merlier, who as such took his second podium spot in a row.

Unsurprisingly, Greipel remains in first place in the overall standings.
