Team Sky has won the Team Time Trial of the Criterium du Dauphine, allowing Michal Kwiatkowski to re-take the lead in the overall classification.

The route of the Team Time Trial was 35 kilometers long and mostly flat, allowing the real specialist teams to shine.

This wasn't the case for Team Sunweb however. The reigning World Team Time Trial champions could start with only five riders as others had fallen ill, and played no role in the battle for the top spots. Instead, the German formation finished last.

BMC Racing Team did put itself in the mix for the stage win. With riders like Tom Bohli and Damiano Caruso, the formation set a time of 37'10" to jump to the top of the standings.

But Team Sky, with three national time trial champions setting the pace, proved to be much strong and ended up beating BMC's time by no less than 37 seconds.

Mitchelton-Scott with race leader Daryl Impey was the last team to hit the road. At the first checkpoint the team was nine seconds slower than Sky and this gap had grown to 37 seconds at the second intermediate check.

More time was lost in the third sector, as Mitchelton-Scott ended up in fourth place at 56 seconds from Team Sky.

With this victory for Sky, Kwiatkowski moves back into the overall lead after having lost the Yellow Jersey to Impey on Tuesday. Teammates Gianni Moscon, Jonathan Castroviejo and Geraint Thomas complete the top four.
