Primoz Roglic of LottoNL-Jumbo has won the 2018 Tour of Slovenia after securing the victory in the closing time trial.

The home rider had already taken the overall lead in Saturday's stage and used Sunday's Individual Time Trial to further extend his advantage. The route of the time trial was 21.5 kilometers long, with finish in Novo Mesto, and included two slight ascents.

The battle for the stage win proved to be a fight of two Slovenians. Roglic beat his compatriot Jan Tratnik of CCC Sprandi Polkowice by 27 seconds to win this battle and take the day's victory.

Czech rider Josef Cerny of Elkov-Author Cycling Team set the third best time at 36 seconds from the winner.

Colombian Rigoberto Uran of EF Education trailed Roglic by just 33 seconds ahead of the time trial but needed 1'17" more to complete the course. However, this time was good enough for the South American to secure his second place.

Matej Mohoric moved into third place in the GC after finishing at 1'38" from Roglic.

This was Roglic' second overall victory in the Tour of Slovenia, after having won the race before in 2015.
