AMBER NEBEN

For the second time in her long career, Amber Neben has won the United States National Time Trial Championship.

The 43-year-old completed the 22.8km course in Knoxville in 29 minutes and 43 seconds, with which she was 15 seconds faster than Trek-Drops rider Tayler Wiles. Rally Cycling Women's Emma White completed the podium at 39 seconds.

Although Neben won the UCI World Time Trial Championships twice, most recently in 2016, she had won the National Championships only once (in 2017). She finished second in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010 but the US TT Champion's jersey proved to be difficult to get until last year's performance.

For Wiles, this is her first podium spot at a US TT Championship. Until now, a fourth place in 2014 was her best result.

The future looks bright for White, meanwhile. The 20-year-old from New York State joined Rally in 2016 and has proven to be a solid time trialist with two stage wins in the Tour of the Gila.
