Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale) has won the time trial of the French National Championships for the second time in a row. The rider was dominant at the day's event, beating the competition by more than two minutes.
The rider completed the 45.5-kilometre circuit in 57 minutes and 36 seconds, beating teammate Tony Gallopin by two minutes and 23 seconds and Groupama-FDJ's Benjamin Thomas by two minutes and 31 seconds.
"I had a lot of fun on the bike, I did not expect to be as good," said the rider at the end of the day. "Even so, I did have a bit of a fright there when I thought I was going to crash. In the end, I had been getting the information over the radio and I knew that I had a bit of a lead.
"It’s not every day that you have enough time in hand to be able to raise your hands at the end of a time trial. I just wanted to enjoy it! And with Tony in second place, we really had a great day."
Wiggle High 5's Audrey Cordon-Ragot has taken the victory at the women's time trial for the fourth time in a row. The rider stopped the time at 42 minutes and 43 seconds, being 29 seconds faster than Juliette Labous (Team Sunweb), and one minute and 30 seconds faster than Severine Eraud (Experza-Footlogix).
