The National Championships are underway and there are some new champions. Here's an overview of the day's winners in time trials and road races.

Astana Women's team dominates in Kazakhstan

After taken the victory at the time trial just some days before, Natalya Saifutdinova has won the road race of the Kazakhstan Championships.

The rider, along with teammates Amiliya Iskakova and Makhabbat Umutzhanova, arrived together at the finish line after leaving all the other competitors behind. Saifutdinova proved to have the better legs at the final sprint and will wear the Kazakh colours for a year.

Tony Martin wins German TT for the 8th time

Katusha-Alpecin's Tony Martin has claimed the German National TT title for the seventh time in a row. The rider beat Jasha Sütterlin (Movistar) by one minute and two seconds, and Nikias Arndt (Sunweb) by one minute and 31 seconds.

"I can not remember that I was so motivated for a German TT championship," he commented. "After the first few meters, I quickly realized that the legs are really good. Because before the race I did not know how my condition is. After the Giro, I was pretty tired and I took a longer break. After all, this was my first competition since finishing in Rome. But I'm happy about this good performance."

Lotta Lepistö wins fifth Finnish TT title in a row

Cervelo-Bigla's Lotta Lepistö has won the time trial of the Finnish national championships for the fifth consecutive time.

The rider stopped the clock at 37 minutes and 26 seconds. "We don’t have too many long time trials in the year so I was a little nervous," she mentioned. "This one was almost 30 kilometres. It doesn’t matter where you’re doing a TT, the effort always hurts. I did good preparation for this and I hope my improvements in the TT will pay off in the bigger races to come."
