Dylan Groenewegen confirmed his good shape with a second consecutive stage win in the Tour de France on Saturday.

The Dutchman of LottoNL-Jumbo outsprinted Andre Greipel and Fernando Gaviria, both of whom were disqualified later for pushing each other in the sprint.

"The legs are better every day and today I also felt good," Groenewegen explained. "It was a fast final with a lot of corners. The team did an amazing job. My position was good. I saw Gaviria and Greipel fighting for their position. I saw the finish line and I thought it was the right moment. I went and it was a good win.

The final was very hard. It was not so easy. It was a very hectic final but that is every day in the Tour. Today was a very good day and we win. I'm very proud of my team and also of myself."

The start of the Tour wasn't the way Groenewegen had hoped but things are looking much brighter after two stage wins in a row. "The first days were not as I expected but the last two days were very good with two wins," he said.

There will be more opportunities for Groenewegen to shine, including the final stage on the Champs-Elysees, where he took his first Tour de France stage win in 2017. Nevertheless, it's too early to look that far ahead, according to the rider.

"It's so far away. We have these two days and I'm really proud of that. We're looking forward. Tomorrow is a hard stage, also for the general classification riders. But we will see, we'll try."
