Alexander Kristoff of UAE Team Emirates got the win he was looking for as he defeated John Degenkolb and Arnaud Demare at the Champs-Elysees on Sunday.

The Norwegian delivered a powerful sprint and kept his key rivals behind him to take the victory on the most iconic avenue of Paris.

"It's a dream come true," he said. "I dreamed about this victory for many years and I was close many times before but I didn't really manage to beat the faster guys like Greipel, Kittel and Cavendish.

"Today they are not here, they are out after the mountains. Now I was the fastest so I am super happy.

"I was a bit far back after the tunnel, but I was with Ferrari, and then Trek-Segafredo did a really good lead-out from behind and I managed to get John's wheel and I could start at a really good spot and I managed to pass John. It was still far out but I saw nobody managed to come closer so in the last 20 meters I was sure I was going to win and I'm so happy that I managed to do it."

For Kristoff, this is his third stage win in the Tour de France following his double stage victory in the 2014 edition.
