Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) is set to return to the Tour de Pologne for the 2018 edition of the race. The rider has been absent from the race since 2016.

The best result Kwiatkowski has achieved in the race was the second position in 2012, a year in which he also wore the leader's jersey for two days. "I’ve decided to start in the Tour de Pologne," the rider commented. "It is wonderful to get the chance to ride in Poland for the delightful Polish fans, my greatest fans. When I saw the route for the Tour de Pologne I thought it would be better to start in Poland instead of the Spanish classic, Clasica San Sebastian.

"It is a good decision in terms of sports goals and I can meet my Polish fans as well. I have lovely memories surrounding this race. In any case, it will be the road that dictates what my ambitions can be. I’m coming off of three very intense weeks at the Tour de France, where every day I gave it my all to help the team obtain this fantastic result."

Kwiatkowski will start in the race with another two Polish riders: Michal Golas and Lukasz Wisniowski.

Complete team of Sky for the Tour de Pologne (4th to 10th of August):

Michal Golas
Sergio Henao
Michal Kwiatkowski
Salvatore Puccio
Pavel Sivakov
Ian Stannard
Lukasz Wisniowski
