Mikel Landa (Movistar) has suffered a lumbar fracture as consequence of the late crash at the peloton in the Clasica San Sebastian.

At 20 kilometres from the end, there was a crash at the front of the peloton that left Landa and Sky's Egan Bernal as the main affected. The Spaniard hit the deck and had to be immediately taken to a hospital in San Sebastian, Spain.

"Extensive examinations underwent by Landa point towards a fracture without displacement of the spinous process in his lumbar vertebra L1," said Movistar in a press release. "Mikel will be examined again on Sunday to confirm the diagnosis and proceed with his release from the hospital."

Landa will have from two to three weeks of complete rest to heal the fracture. The rider was set to be one of the main men of the team for the upcoming Vuelta a España.
