Bahrain Merida's Gorka Izagirre and Kanstantsin Sivtsov have suffered hematomas and contusions after being part of the big crash of the Clasica San Sebastian.
The riders got involved in the crash that affected the peloton with 20 kilometres to go, but first check-ups don't show any fractures. "Gorka Izagirre had taken an X-Ray in San Sebastian hospital and luckily there are no fractures," said Carlo Guardascione, Bahrain-Merida's doctor.
"He suffered ribs contusions and hematomas and full recovery might be expected within 10 days from now, while Kanstantin Siutsou has a left scapula contusion and hematoma. He will fly to Italy and tomorrow, he will have an X-ray taken too."
Despite these two riders being involved in the crash, teammate and brother of Gorka, Ion Izagirre kept going and finished in the seventh position of the race. "I had good legs throughout the day, I tried to keep the speed at the last climb where (Bauke) Mollema and (Julian) Alaphilippe attacked.
"I just have to congratulate with them as they were really the strongest today. Well, I have to be patient and wait for the next races of the season."
