The roundup of news of the approaching Grand Tour includes Victor Campenaerts' last moment addition, Caja Rural and LottoNL-Jumbo's rosters and Thibaut Pinot's expectations.

Victor Campenaerts replaces Tomaz Marczynski at Vuelta a España

The European time trial champion is set to replace the Polish rider, who won't be starting in the race due to illness. "I always wanted to ride the Vuelta," said the Belgian. "So far, I have been satisfied with the program and the opportunities the team has offered me. I fully understood that I wasn’t part of the initial line-up. There were a lot of other guys who were eager to participate in the Vuelta.

"The sports directors told me that if something would happen to the riders who were selected, I would certainly be one of the guys to replace them. The Vuelta a España takes off with a prologue, that’s always nice. Eight kilometres is not that long but I will do everything to obtain a good result. Afterwards, we’ll see if there are any other opportunities."

Caja Rural-Seguros RGA to start at La Vuelta with a young roster

The upcoming edition of the race will the seventh participation for the Spanish team. The eight selected riders will start the race with the objective of doing a good performance.

For three of the riders, this will be the first time in a Grand Tour, another one has been in two Giro d'Italia and the remaining four have experience in the race.

Caja Rural-Seguros RGA's line-up for the Vuelta a España: Sergio Pardilla, Alex Aranburu, Lluis Mas, Nick Schultz, Nelson Soto, Cristian Rodriguez, Jonathan Lastra and Antonio Molina.

LottoNL-Jumbo starts at Vuelta a España with strong roster

The Dutch team will have George Bennett and Steven Kruijswijk as the men fighting for a good general classification position, while Danny van Poppel will be in charge of trying to win the fast stages. The roster also includes Sepp Kuss, who just won the Tour of Utah with a dominant performance.

LottoNL-Jumbo's roster for the Vuelta a España: Steven Kruijswijk, George Bennett, Danny van Poppel, Lars Boom, Floris De Tier, Tom Leezer, Bert-Jan Lindeman and Sepp Kuss.

Thibaut Pinot to start at La Vuelta with a free role

The French rider of Groupama-FDJ retired just before the last stage of the Giro d'Italia with extreme exhaustion and after testing his legs at the Tour de Pologne, he's ready to tackle the last Grand Tour of the season.

Pinot knows the competition in the race will be tough but doesn't want to put much pressure on his shoulders. "I’ll try to get into a rhythm as La Vuelta goes on", he commented. "I’ll see how things go day by day and we’ll assess the situation midway through La Vuelta, to see if we fight for the general classification, if I’m close to the top 5, or if we aim for a stage victory in the third week. We’ll discuss it along the race."
