Michael Matthews (Sunweb) has taken the victory at the last stage of the BinckBank Tour and took the second position in the General Classification. Matej Mohoric was the winner of the race.

The last stage of the Dutch-Belgian race was 215.6 kilometres long between Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure and Geraardsbergen. The escape of the day included riders like Dylan Groenewegen, Markel Irizar and Laurens De Vreese, among others.

The front group got a gap of more than four minutes with the peloton. With 55 kilometres to go, Irizar, De Vreese and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck attacked and left the rest of the escapees behind, but some kilometres later, the Trek-Segafredo rider and the one of Astana couldn't hold the pace of the man of Van Keirsbulck.

At 30 kilometres from the finish, Paul Martens (LottoNL-Jumbo) and Jonas Rickaert (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise) joined the man at the front but six kilometres later the latter got dropped at the Muur van Geraardsbergen. With 20 kilometres to go, Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) and Oliver Naesen (AG2R La Mondiale) got to the front and five kilometres later, Naesen tried his luck and rode away from the others.

The Belgian continued riding on his own while behind him a strong group that included Michael Matthews (Sunweb), Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Merida), Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) and Zdenek Stybar (Quick-Step Floors) went on to catch him. Naesen was reeled back in by this group with four kilometres to go and it prepared to face a reduced sprint.

With 800 metres to go, Mohoric accelerated but he was caught by the group and at the end finished out of the top 10. Matthews was the stage winner, Van Avermaet was second and Stybar crossed the line in the third position. Despite the time lost, Mohoric kept the lead on GC beating Matthews by five seconds.
