WaowDeals' Marianne Vos is finishing early her season on the road to do a complete season of the cyclocross calendar.

The rider has combined the road with other disciplines, including cyclocross, from early in her professional career. Vos has been multiple times Dutch champion in the discipline and has taken multiple titles at the World Cyclocross Championships.

For many years, the current leader of the UCI Women's WorldTour has chosen to extend her road calendar and participate in select events of the cyclocross calendar, but she has decided to cut the road year short and start in September in the other discipline.

"I already took the decision to start my cyclocross season in September some time ago," Vos commented. "I think it is good to do something different than previous years. People who know me also know that I love cyclo-cross

"Ever since I turned pro, I have never completed a full cross-winter. The last time I have done that was in my junior years."

The GP Plouay has been the last road race of the season for the rider. "A first important goal is the European championships in Rosmalen, early November, which means I need to get the necessary rhythm by having weekly crosses," she explained.

"In addition, I also need to qualify. I take a short break after the European championship in order to get ready for the remainder of the season."
